Money is being raise for Haiti Deaf School!

MSD fundraiser tonight to benefit Deaf school in Haiti

The Maryland School for the Deaf is hosting a fundraiser tonight for a deaf school in Port-au-Prince that collapsed during the Haiti earthquake.

The program will be held from 5:45 to 8 p.m. in the new elementary school of The Maryland School for the Deaf, 400 S. Carroll St., Frederick .

Opening activities and dinner will start at 5:45 p.m. The main program, which includes entertainment and a presentation, will be from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. The program’s arts, crafts, games and labyrinth will be from 6:45 to 8 p.m.

The suggested donation is $10 per family. All proceeds will go to the deaf school, Institut Montfort.

Raise Money For Haiti Deaf Children

All proceeds from the event’s $20 ticket price will be sent to Haiti to help rebuild the facilities, particularly a Port-au-Prince school for deaf and blind children, The Institute of Montfort, said Sister Rosemarie McKenna.

“This is the only school for deaf children in the area,” said McKenna. “We’re their hope. They have no natural resources.”
